I wasn’t going to write a blog post today.
I am still grieving my loved one, but this month has given me more to grieve than I know how to handle. But I write this to remind myself, and all of you reading, that this is not the time to stop fighting.
After the Dobbs decision was announced, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said,
One thing remains steady. That we will not stop fighting until this is fixed. And I say that to my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. We are not going away. We stay. We fight. We push. And we will not be silenced.
I was giving myself this week off. But I’m sacrificing a lot to be here, and I’m here. I’m here in this fight for reproductive justice and abortion access and I am not going anywhere. Being a white woman with the privilege that I have means that it is my job to follow my Black, poor, trans, immigrant, incarcerated neighbors’ lead every step of the way. And if Roe is ever codified, I still won’t back down then until abortion access is guaranteed for everyone who needs it and not just for people who can afford it and who look like me.
I truly believe that we can do the most good when we fight this fight locally. So donate to your local abortion fund. Call your legislators. See if your local clinic needs volunteers and sign up. Do whatever you have to, but do not give up.
I want to see it codified too. I want the Biden admin to pack the ussc with 4 liberal justices.
